Finding recipes that won’t betray you…

My husband has uttered “pecan pie” about 20 times over the last couple of weeks.  Worried how such a treat will blow all my good efforts to smithereens,  I finally decided to do a quick google search to see if I could find a recipe with a modest amount of calories and sugar.  Though I am still actively seeking the “one” recipe that I want to first try, I must share with you the awesome website I found during my search! The website is called Yummly… let me tell you why it’s awesome…

Let’s say you search “pecan pie” in their website… thousands of recipes come up!  Yummly features helpful filtering options for calories per serving, saltiness, savoriness, sour, bitter, spicy, sweet, etc!  Cool, right?  How about this? PREP time!  Or DIET specific?  And, one of my favorite features – you can change the number of servings of the recipe and it will automatically adjust the ingredient measurements for you!  (yes!)

Check it out… tell me what you think!  In the meantime, I think I’m going to try the Pecan Pie Bars I, at 160 calories per serving.  :)  I’ll let you know how they turn out…

  1. Okay, the results are in and these pecan bars are out of this world! Now, consider the portion size to get 160 calories though…. I cut the recipe in half to have 24 servings fill a 9×9 baking pan. Those are small pieces. But, they are nothing short of amazing! They were fun to make too… my 8 year old was my “expert” helper.
